Every blogger made the decision to start their blog. What we wanted to know was how they decided what would be their first post – and to reflect on something that has been hidden in their archives ever since. Sharking for Chips & Drinks are running the feature ‘Back to the Start’ over the next few weeks where we will introduce you to bloggers from Melbourne, Australia and much further afield. These are all great bloggers so I suggest you subscribe to their blog and follow them on Twitter.
I wasn’t sure what to write about in my first blog post other than to celebrate the fact that I had recently quit my job at a hedge fund to move to London with no plan whatsoever. I came up with the name A Lady in London that afternoon while walking down the street, and figured that the alliteration would help people remember it. Looking back at the first post makes me nostalgic for that day. I was so full of excitement for the future and my move to another country!
My First PostWEDNESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2007
Yesterday was my last day of work at the hedge fund in San Francisco, and today is my first day as a lady of leisure. I woke up this morning at 7:30 and was a little disappointed that I couldn’t sleep in any later. I guess that will come with time. After waking up at 5:30 for three years, 7:30 counts as progress.
I have to admit that I was anxious this morning. I know I should have been feeling carefree and excited, but the combination of the pressure to feel those things and the fact that my future is still somewhat up in the air is freaking me out a little bit.
That said, I have adjusted quite well to the life of leisure. I took a long walk this morning, cooked myself chicken masala for lunch, did a little shopping, and finally finished my 2006 tax return. For someone living a life of leisure, I certainly have accomplished a lot today.
Does the life of leisure last forever? Sadly, no. But I have new exciting adventures planned. Namely, I’m planning to move to London! The International Woman of Mystery will soon be back in her element, and she can’t wait. So what to do in the time between now and going to London? San Diego this weekend, Washington, DC next weekend, and more adventures beyond.
